Complex geomety can be accurately measured using a laser scanner or digitizing arm depending on the type of part and requirements. Next Step's proprietary laser scanning method can produce scan data at resolutions to 0.001" (one thousandth of an inch), making it useful for parts with fine detail.

Results can be exported to an STL file for machining, rapid prototyping, or feature-based cad models can be reconstructed through a reverse engineering process.
